They had been hiding in a box hidden behind fresh rotors. Warranted covers only the parts prior to installation.
All went as planned and I figured I would put the spare rebuild parts to good use instead of putting them on a shelf to get lost. I found these calipers when I was putting the parts with my other brake parts. These lived on my parts shelf for a number of years waiting for a need that just did not arise. The 8 got sold, the SL I just rebuilt its calipers and the w126 got rebuilt when I could not find these calipers.
All of the rebuilding was hand done in USA.
When I was rebuilding the SD calipers, I made sure I had spare parts, in case things did not go smoothly. The photos show the rebuild process from removal of the pistons pucks to post testing.
